Dentons’ Venture Tech supports MaRS Entrepreneurship 101 program
Continuing to demonstrate its commitment to, and position as, an important player in Canada’s startup ecosystem, Dentons’ Venture Technology group was pleased to support the recent launch of MaRS Discovery District’s Entrepreneurship 101 (E101) online program.
E101 is a free, five-week online course designed to equip entrepreneurs from around the globe with the skills they need to launch a successful startup.
Constantly seeking ways to deepen its relationship with the Canadian startup community, Dentons provided a number of videos addressing legal issues faced by startups. “We’re thrilled that E101 participants could tap into Dentons’ startup expertise through the online video series,” says Lisa Zarzeczny, Manager, Entrepreneurship Education Programs at MaRS.
In preparing for this course, MaRS reached out to experienced entrepreneurs and industry experts to provide insights and tools through which future entrepreneurs can leverage their vast knowledge.
According to MaRS, the initial response and feedback from the first cohort has been positive. When asked about their favorite lesson, participants responded:
“Intellectual property, because I find it’s such an important part of starting a business and most courses don’t cover it fully.”
“The segment on building an IP plan. Applying for a patent was something I overlooked and am now pursuing.”
“Videos were great – the best was the IP strategy video.”
“The information about registering an LLC, determining equity and so on were very informative.”
