Dentons launches BlueTech Incubator with The Maritime Alliance

Dentons has launched the BlueTech Incubator in collaboration with The Maritime Alliance (TMA), further establishing the Firm as a leader in the use of technology and entrepreneurship to find and develop sustainable solutions for the world’s most demanding ocean and water challenges. The launch of the BlueTech Incubator is a culmination of Dentons’ ongoing work with TMA for the advancement of ocean and water technologies. Led by San Diego Corporate counsel Phillip A. Bradley the initial cohort includes six companies — Clear Blue Sea, Delawarde Consulting, Intellecy, Hydrokinetic Energy and Storage, MARSEC and XST. The Incubator is resident in the Firm’s San Diego office and is supported by a grant from the City of San Diego’s Economic Development Department.

As a result of Dentons’ continued efforts on behalf of the Blue Economy, TMA will recognize the Firm with the BlueTech Incubator Supporter of the Year Award at the 9th annual Maritime Gala & Award Ceremony. Taking place on November 8 during the annual Blue Tech Summit & Tech Expo, the ceremony honors individuals and organizations committed to the Blue Economy and launching new products and services globally.

“We are honored by The Maritime Alliance award, and we will continue to support the BlueTech sector and accelerate advancement of the BlueTech Incubator companies,” said Baesel. “The tireless work of TMA Founder and President Michael B. Jones has created a bright future for BlueTech companies here and abroad, and the BlueTech Incubator provides a platform for continued growth of the BlueTech Cluster in San Diego.”

The official launch of the BlueTech Incubator occurred on October 25th and included remarks from Dentons US Chairman Jeff Haidet, San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, City Councilmember Barbara Bry and Paul Roben, Associate Vice Chancellor for Innovation and Commercialization at UC San Diego.

During the past year, Dentons partnered with TMA to establish the BlueTech Incubator, and also hosted several BlueTech B2B events, as well as prep sessions for TMA’s BlueTech Trade Missions carried out with support from the International Trade Administration’s Maritime Technology Export Initiative.
