As a high-tech enthusiast I am for over 20 years advising start-up companies in various fields of technology. Starting with the incorporation of the right “legal vehicle” up to the protection of intellectual property, generating financing until a successful “exit” I am helping high-tech companies in various stages of their “lifetime”.
I am also an investor in various start-up companies in the Life Sciences field, in the IT sector and in other high-tech areas. Success as a start-up company is based on taking (controlled) risks, adventurous approaches and an un-resting entrepreneurial spirit.
As these ingredients have been the elixir for my life it is only natural to help, support and advise those in the high-tech industry with splendid new ideas and having the same “life blood”.

My passion is helping technology companies of all sizes get funded and grow their businesses. I have nurtured many companies through the whole funding cycle—from seed and angel investment, VC and private equity, to IPOs on the TSX, Nasdaq and AIM. I have had lots of funny experiences and made many lifelong friends in the process. My work has covered every technology sector, including hardware, software (especially SaaS), digital media, life sciences and innovation in healthcare.
I have a special interest in business model development in highly regulated sectors, including influencing the creation of new regulations and public policies.
Working with startups is very energizing. One of my latest projects is working in the emerging legal tech area in a few capacities—as an advisor, investor and contributor to product development. It has been great to see my worlds converge—startups, technology and law.

I advise early-stage companies on legal fundamentals so they can “get it right” from the very beginning. This includes setting up a corporate structure that enables fast and flexible growth, founder(s) and stockholders agreements, protecting intellectual property and corporate information, and, I make introductions to VCs for potential and/or ongoing financing.
Once on their corporate journey, I leverage my entrepreneurial experience to mentor all my startup clients with respect to appropriate and upcoming legal and business issues, ensuring they are well positioned to scale and build truly successful companies, locally and globally.

I am passionate about helping fast-growing companies reach their potential. I am based in London and am immersed in the start-up scene, particularly in the digital media space. I work with a broad range of clients at the forefront of digital innovation advising on services such as online advertising, convergence, interactive and mobile content. I also work with blue-chip multinational clients on a broad range of industry related issues and enjoy being able to share my experiences and insight of working internationally to help clients build their companies.
Working with startups and high growth companies is the most rewarding part of my job–connecting key persons in the ecosystem from incubators, angels and VCs, to institutions, private equity and ultimately the public markets.
I’ve worked extensively with companies and entrepreneurs across the digital technology and media sectors at all stages of the development cycle, both in the UK and cross-border. By raising finance, teaming with the right strategic partner, overseas expansion or acquiring the right target, I’ve helped new entrants capitalise on an evolving trend with a disruptive business model and large corporations take traditional media into the digital age.
I love the outdoors and am a keen rugby fan – not playing anymore, the knocks hurt too much these days! Now I’m more likely to be found hiking with my wife and our pet beagle, with a bit of cycling in between–that is, when I’m not tinkering with my classic (read “unreliable”?) car – a 1973 Triumph GT6 in British racing green of course!
I’ve been negotiating commercial contracts with a focus on technology, marketing, entertainment and IP for more than 15 years. For 10 of those years, I worked in-house at companies like PR Newswire, CNBC and American Express. So I’ve seen the inner workings of companies big and small, and negotiated contracts from every perspective.
